Tickled

As many of you know, every year Pantone picks it's color of the year - the color that will spark the trends in fashion and design for the coming year. This year, I was happy to see that the color they picked is Radiant Orchid.

In fact, I have an orchid just this shade, which a good friend of mine gave me this spring. Up until recently, it was full of beautiful blooms, but unfortunately all the pretty flowers have fallen off now, which I believe is due to the severe lack of sun in Seattle in the winter. :(

Anyway, I love this color. Since purple is one of my favorite colors, I am sure I will find lots of ways to wear it. Stay tuned for outfit pics! Until then, here's some Radiant Orchid inspiration:

Merry Christmas!

It's the most wonderful time of the year! (At least, I think so.) I love everything about Christmas: the food, the lovely cards, gathering with family, and let's not forget the presents! As you celebrate this most joyous season with the people you love, here are some festive pics to get you in the Holiday mood. My photographer took these at a Christmas tree farm just a few blocks from her house. I think they are the perfect ones to share on Christmas. I absolutely love my sky-blue sparkly cardigan with beaded flowers (they almost look like snowflakes). I am actually wearing it as I type this, getting ready to go to church for the Christmas Eve service with my family.

Keeping Warm

I took vacation this week and have thoroughly enjoyed having time to relax, decorate my home for the holidays, send out my Christmas cards, do my Christmas shopping, and see friends. We even had a dusting of snow his morning! The perfect end to a lovely week. I also did another photo shoot with my friend Lamb and got some great pics for the blog! Here's a sneak peak of the goodies to come:

It Can Be Done!
Thought it was impossible to find shoes that are both comfortable and fashionable? Think Again!

A friend of mine recently sent me a link to his sister-in-law's Kickstarter page. She has designed a set of seriously covetable shoes, and get this, she promises they are the most comfortable shoes you'll ever wear! I am a sucker for high heels, the higher the better, so when I find a pair that both look good and feel good I snatch them up. And the best part? They are totally affordable! The designer is offering a surprise pair of shoes for only a $25 pledge. For a little more, you can pick your style.

I purchased the cream winter boots, but there are a ton more styles I was lusting after. Check out the style I will be getting if this kickstarter campaign is successful:

Look What I Made!

I am so grateful for the ability to knit and crochet, so when I want a new hat-scarf,sweater, wrap, etc. that I can't find in stores (or is horribly expensive), I can just make my own. I wish I could say the same for sewing. I am hopeless when it comes to that. Oh well...maybe someday. Today I wanted to show you all a fantastic oversized cowl that I made a while back. It was perfect for transitioning one of my favorite summer dresses into fall. Just throw it on over the dress, pair with coordinating tights, and boots. Check it out!

(Oh, and in case you were wondering, I found the knitting pattern here: http://www.lionbrand.com/patterns/L0308.html?noImages=0 (it is for a smaller cowl. I modified it to make this piece)

One Outfit, Three Ways

Whenever I get a new article of clothing, I try to come up with as many different ways to wear it as possible. That way, I stretch my closet without spending too much. For the next three days, I will be posting three different ways to wear the same skirt, which I got on sale at Banana Republic. So without further adieu, here it is.

Leather

I've had this leather dress for a while now and have been trying to come up with new ways to wear it. Pairing it with my mint H & M motorcycle jacket and black studded Zara boots seemed like the perfect fit! While I don't normally go for the tough, biker look, the H & M jacket is feminine enough that I felt comfortable, while still stretching my personal fashion boundaries.
